What leadership is and what it is not

I read articles about leadership and a lot of the time it makes me upset.  People throw around the word leadership and they confuse what it really means.

In today’s world of technology-driven transformation, leaders need to embrace a new leadership principle if they want their organization to be relevant today and in the future.

Can anyone say the term "Today's Leaders" and not be talking about the business world.  I'm sorry but businesses are not always the leaders we need in the world.  Business is about money.  We don't want (or need) the leadership of money.

(Remember, leadership and management are two entirely different ideas.)

Do we need leadership to be used in business?  Of course.  Leadership is not the same as dealing with customers; but it can be used for that purpose.  Leadership is not how you run an organization, but it can be used (and should be used).  Leadership can be used in the sales arena.  If you are personable with the people that you're selling to you more than likely get more business.

Leadership can be used in many different areas and is not reserved for the business world alone.

What about leadership in your community?  Isn't that important.  What about employees that show leadership principles in how they work.  What about leadership in the home.  Setting and example for you children to follow.

Business Leaders need to embrace a new leadership principle.

Leadership is a tool.  It's mainly an idea about how you interact with people.  Integrity, honesty, and personal responsibility are all important to bring about trust.  These are traits that I try and show in my everyday life, not just at my job.  And it's something I think we need more of in the world.
